Skinner Smith Construction has been selected to work on the River Road roadway project located at the intersection of Lorraine Drive and River Road, expanding to the west side of River Road. Our team was brought in to implement our coastal development expertise by helping navigate the complexities of underground utility installation and roadway construction. The Traffic circle intersection of Lorraine Drive and River Road is part of the larger city plan to address traffic safety and enhance access for the growing city of Wilmington, NC.

Project Location: River Lights Development

Skinner Smith Construction is the underground utilities contractor for the RiverLights master-planned community in Wilmington, NC. This community has been awarded the 2022 North Carolina Community of the Year by the North Carolina Builders Association. This mixed-use development encompasses 1,400 acres along 3 miles of the Cape Fear River and will include various residential projects as well as an upscale retail village that has captured the attention of national brands and franchises.

Project Location: Cypress Village

Cypress Village, is a high-density single-family community that spans 6 acres off of Carolina Beach Road, Wilmington, NC. Skinner Smith Construction provided the needed skill and expertise to complete the underground utility work for this project which includes 36 two-story homesites.

Project Location: River Bluffs

The River Bluffs development project, located along the Northeast Cape Fear River, has gained award-winning status and significant local recognition. River Bluffs is a new-home community consisting of over 315 acres of development. Skinner Smith Construction was selected, as the developing partner, to bring the vision to life. We have worked diligently to conserve the natural features of the land by implementing our knowledge of waterfront development. We are proud of the acclaim this project has received. River Bluffs was awarded the Coastal Federation’s Pelican Award in 2014 for efforts to protect and preserve the environment. A year later, the River Bluffs team members were again recognized for their preservation accomplishments and were given The Outstanding Recognition Award by the Lower Cape Fear Stewardship Development Coalition.

Project Location: Burnt Mill business park on Randall Parkway

The Burnt Mill Business Park, in mid-midtown Wilmington, NC, was established in 1988. The final building to be constructed within the business park will be located on 2.5 acres and will contain 15,000 square feet. Skinner Smith will partner with the developers to guide and complete all aspects of the underground utilities for this construction project.
